Some important guidelines to observe:-
Winters always come with an entirely different mood every year. However, you can expect at least one powerful snow storm every year. If you are well equipped then you can easily get through it. Even if you are stuck indoors during the snowstorms, you can have an enjoyable time and still be safe. For that, you need to ensure that your home is winter ready and can withstand the harsh North-eastern winters. Before winter arrives and you start running the furnace on a regular basis, check out whether it is proper and fully functional. Moreover, your home should be well-insulated too. Keep 1-2 fire extinguishers readily available. They can come in handy if any fire breaks out. Keep with you some alternate lighting and heating sources as power outage is common during heavy snowstorms. Light lamps, candles, etc. can be very useful during such times.
Planning ahead of winters can not only save your life, but that of your family members too. Planning in advance never fails. Rush to the nearest stores for provisions. Stock up those basic items and commodities that are an essential part of your daily life. Stocking up milk, bread, snacks, toilet paper, etc. will ensure that you don’t face any difficulty once the snowstorm gets bad. If your locality faces a blizzard storm, then you might not be able to go to the stores for several days. Hence, make sure that you stock up enough food to pass the storming days. If you are on medications, don’t forget to store up the necessary and vital medicines before snowfall starts. During storms, temperature drops significantly. Hence, stoking up alcoholic drinks and meat-based food items (especially pork or beef) can be a good idea.
If the snowstorm turns bad then you may get stuck indoors for several days. During such times, things can become very boring. Stock up some munchies, coffee bags, etc. to fend off boredom. Stock up commodities that can be helpful in playing games or other fun activities. Lastly, keep a close eye on the weather reports. You should know what’s going around. The weather reports will keep you informed about the scenario outside.
